A farming family

I’m Sioned, I’m a farmer like many generations of my family to farm at Nant y Gaseg here in mid Wales. I farm in partnership with my parents, Huw & Eleri.

I’m happiest when I’m up in the hills, but I also love welcoming guests to Cegir Escapes, where the huts are – which is our ancestral family farm located just a stone’s throw from our farmhouse. Our son, Huw Ifan, loves meeting our guests too… and selling them his fresh eggs (they are the best)!

My husband Andy is a carpenter with a passion for 'hut' building. Together we designed and built all five huts on our site. With Andy’s building expertise and my interest in art, we have considered every detail to create the perfect home away from home. They are the perfect escape from busy modern life, to soak up the tranquillity and comfort in the hills of rural Wales.

It’s a family affair here, with both of us, my parents Huw & Eleri, our son Huw Ifan, and our nephews, Sion & Deian all pitching in with various jobs around the site.

A warm Welsh welcome
to the heart of Mid Wales

Our huts are set on a working sheep and beef farm nestled in the rolling green hills of the Dovey Valley, just outside the market town of Machynlleth. We are ideally located to experience the best Wales has to offer and are moments away from Snowdonia National Park and the beautiful beaches of the Dyfi Estuary.  

​Whether you want to hike, explore the amazing local beaches or just relax in front of the wood-burning stove, our huts provide you with the ultimate relaxing rural retreat.

A break for
all seasons

Our shepherd’s huts are open all year round and are toasty warm in winter and cool and comfortable in summer. Each season offers its own special experience. Join us in spring and watch the newborn lambs play in the fields. In summer, chill out on the decking with a glass of wine and scents of the BBQ sizzling next to you. When the leaves change and the air gets colder, light up the woodburner and snuggle up under a traditional Welsh blanket with a good book.

Go off-grid

Our Cut Cornel hut is designed to have minimal impact on the environment, electricity is generated by solar panel and provides enough power for lights and charging mobile phones via USB sockets.

There is no 4G or phone signal around the hut, allowing you to truly switch off and relax. In a hyper-connected world, disconnecting from technology is a radical act of self-care.

We designed our off-grid hut to inspire raw encounters in the outdoors. The art of disconnection means listening to nature’s call. Putting on your walking shoes. Setting curiosity free. Noticing each season’s abundance.

As dog lovers and the owners of sheepdogs Meilo, Fly, Meg & Teg and Tango the little Jack Russell, we know a holiday isn’t the same without your furry friends and welcome well-behaved dogs to join you on your glamping adventure.
