A farming family
Cegir Escapes is run by Sioned, Andy & family, who have farmed at Nant y Gaseg in Mid Wales for generations. Sioned farms in partnership with her parents, Huw and Eleri, continuing a long family tradition rooted in the hills they call home.
Sioned is happiest when she’s up in the hills, but she also loves welcoming guests to Cegir. The huts sit on the family’s ancestral farm, just a short walk from the farmhouse. You might also be greeted by the youngest member of the team — Sioned and Andy’s son, Huw Ifan — who enjoys meeting guests and selling his fresh eggs.
Andy, is a carpenter with a real passion for hut building. He designed and built all five huts on the site himself. With Andy’s building skills and Sioned’s love of art and detail, every part of the huts has been carefully thought through to create a cosy, comfortable home away from home. They’re designed as a proper escape from busy modern life — a place to slow down, relax, and enjoy the peace and quiet of rural Wales.
Cegir Escapes is very much a family affair. Alongside Sioned and Andy, parents Huw and Eleri, son Huw Ifan, and nephews Sion and Deian all muck in with jobs around the site — from cleaning and chopping logs to everything in between.

to the heart of Mid Wales
Our huts are set on a working sheep and beef farm nestled in the rolling green hills of the Dovey Valley, just outside the market town of Machynlleth. We are ideally located to experience the best Wales has to offer and are moments away from Snowdonia National Park and the beautiful beaches of the Dyfi Estuary.
Whether you want to hike, explore the amazing local beaches or just relax in front of the wood-burning stove, our huts provide you with the ultimate relaxing rural retreat.
A break for
all seasons
Our shepherd’s huts are open all year round and are toasty warm in winter and cool and comfortable in summer. Each season offers its own special experience. Join us in spring and watch the newborn lambs play in the fields. In summer, chill out on the decking with a glass of wine and scents of the BBQ sizzling next to you. When the leaves change and the air gets colder, light up the woodburner and snuggle up under a traditional Welsh blanket with a good book.
Dogs Welcome
As dog lovers and the owners of sheepdogs Meilo, Fly, Meg & Teg and Tango the little Jack Russell, we know a holiday isn’t the same without your furry friends and welcome well-behaved dogs to join you on your glamping adventure.

All special occasion add-ons must be arranged with us in advance of your stay. Requests made close to arrival may not always be possible, so we recommend getting in touch as early as you can.
Celebration Cakes
For celebration cakes, we highly recommend Jules Cakes, a fabulous local cake maker known for creating stunning, delicious cakes for all occasions.
Cakes are ordered directly with Jules, giving you complete freedom to choose flavours, designs and personal touches.
